They believe they have control over how well they perform and feel responsible for improving their performance by investing effort into learning new skills. The emphasis on effort also encourages individuals to keep trying even when things get tough because they know that practice will help them reach their goals eventually.<\/p><p>On the contrary, individuals with a fixed mindset tend to believe their abilities are predetermined and cannot be changed, so they do not take ownership of their mistakes or failures. By exposing children to new experiences, they are more likely to adopt a growth mindset because they understand that abilities can be developed and changed with practice and effort. This can help them overcome their fear of failure, which is often a barrier to learning new skills.<\/p><p><strong>Praise effort, not intelligence \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>When your child does well on an assignment or test, don\u2019t praise the outcome. Instead, focus on the effort they put into it. This will encourage them to try harder next time and put in more effort because they know that by doing so, they can improve their performance.<\/p><p><strong>Learn from mistakes \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>When your child makes a mistake, encourage them to take responsibility for their actions and try again. Instead of saying \u201cdon\u2019t worry about it\u201d or \u201cit doesn\u2019t matter,\u201d tell them that they should think about what they could have done differently and how they can improve next time.<\/p><p><strong>Ask questions<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 When your child comes home with an assignment, ask them what they learned from it and how they feel about the material. Praise their effort and their resilience in the face of adversity rather than focusing on what went wrong or how they could have done better.
